Every once in a while custom photographers are asked why they charge what they do or how they come up with their pricing.  A lot of people think we just snap a photo, download it and show the customer.  If  it were only that easy!

The photographer still has to process those images in addition to many other things to actually complete a session.  While the session with the customer may be anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours, on the back end the photographer actually spends 5-15 hours on any particular session.

Here’s a great article that goes more in depth on custom photography costs.

Needing ideas on what to wear at your photo session?  Fellow photographer Kim Hill put together this palette.  I love the fall colors!

I would say these are two of the funniest boys I’ve photographed to date.  They were friendly, engaging and polite.  Yet they were still silly and playful little boys.  I’m sure it helps that they have one rockin’ mama:-D

Many people ask what they should wear when they schedule a photo session.  You don’t necessarily have to match (i.e. all white shirts), just coordinate. Here are some examples:

This morning I met the with this cute family.  It was a little chilly out, but not too bad.  The boys were ready to head to the pumpkin patch next with mom and dad!

Today a friend and photographer lost her 4 year old son to h1n1. I cannot even begin to image what she and her family are going through. I do know they are in need of funds to pay for the funeral.

The paypal donate button is not working right, so if you would like to donate to Tracy & family, please send directly to Tracy at sugarlimedesigns@live.com or the memorial fund for Nate:

“The Nathen Stone Memorial Fund has been established at First Bank to help the family with expenses. Donations can be made at any First Bank Branch or can be mailed to: The Nathen Stone Memorial Fund c/o First Bank P.O. Box 1047 Crossville, TN 38557.”

Additionally, fellow designer Design by Jenn is donating 100% of her proceeds this week to the family.
